A Colorful Story: C.C. Cole’s Pottery Shop Opening Reception
July 12, 2025 | 1 PM - 4 PM
Come join us for the opening reception for the A Colorful Story: C.C. Cole’s Pottery Shop exhibit on Saturday, July 12, 2025! The reception is free and open to the public.
Beginning in 1938, Charles Clifton “Charlie” Cole operated a pottery shop on Route 1 in Seagrove. With experience gained working with his father Ruffin, and brothers Everette and A.R. Cole, C.C. Cole carved a niche for his shop. While other Seagrove area outfits had been shipping their art pottery to gift shops up and down the East Coast for several years, C.C. Cole Pottery took it to the next level. With production often reaching 10,000 pieces a week, C.C. Cole supplied countless pots to tourist shops from Florida to Maine, from Carolina Beach to California.
This exhibit presents a sampling of the diverse and enormous output of C.C. Cole Pottery, from porch vases and candle holders to the countless jugs and pitchers sold to honey suppliers.
